Making Research Easier: Marvin’s January Roundup

4 mins read

2024 was a year of transformation at Marvin. From new AI-powered features to enhanced collaboration tools, we made research easier, faster, and more accessible for our users.

And we’re moving at full throttle with the same mission in 2025.

Let’s dive in!

Marvin + Slack Now Work Together

We’re thrilled to announce that Marvin now integrates seamlessly with Slack. It’s going to transform the way you research.

Let me explain.

Need Your Research Library in Slack? You Got It!

Let’s say you’re in a Slack huddle, debating the best way to improve your onboarding flow. Wouldn’t it be awesome to ask your research repository right then and there what users actually think?

Well, now you can! With Marvin’s Ask AI, your entire research library is just a command away, right inside Slack. No more switching tabs or digging through old reports. Here’s how it works:

Just type /heymarvin followed by your question in any slack channel (not supported in DMs). Marvin will instantly search your entire research repository to find the answer. It’s like having an AI research assistant in your team huddles, providing instant, data-backed answers!

The best part?

You can easily share these AI-powered answers directly in your Slack conversations. Make faster, smarter decisions, all fueled by your own research. You can tag your team members and discuss these insights right then and there.

Marvin-Slack Integration

From Slack to Marvin, Instantly

Let’s talk about something we all know too well: User feedback getting lost in Slack messages. Your teammate shares a user insight from a sales call, a customer drops a crucial piece of feedback in a support thread, or you have a dedicated channel for user research.

But then, poof! It gets buried under all the other messages, never to be seen again. Well, not anymore!

Imagine this: You’re in Slack, and a customer success manager shares a key quote from a recent client call about a specific feature. Instead of copying and pasting (and inevitably losing track of it later), you can now:

  1. Right-click on any Slack message.
  2. Select “More actions” and choose “Save as file.”
  3. Select the relevant Marvin project.
  4. Click “Save.”

And boom! It’s done. Marvin will store it in the repository with your other research insights. A new file containing the message content (text and images supported) is instantly created in your Marvin project.

Turn those fleeting slack conversations into actionable research insights.

Keep Your Team in the Loop

With Marvin’s Slack integration, you can instantly share key findings and updates with your team directly in the channels where they’re already working.

Publish insight summaries: Let’s say you just finished a round of usability testing on your new checkout process. Marvin can automatically push the insight summary to a designated Slack channel of your choice.

New project file notifications: Uploaded new interviews or reports? Marvin automatically alerts your Slack channel to new project files and includes a summary of each file.

You control the flow: No spam! You decide which Slack channels get which updates. For each project, you can select a preferred Slack channel to receive automated summaries of insights and new files. Marketing gets marketing insights, product gets product insights — ensuring everyone gets the information they need.

With the Marvin-Slack integration bring your insights, data, and team conversations together. Want to see how you can connect Marvin with Slack?

Unlock Deeper Insights Like Never Before with AI

Get ready for some seriously cool updates to Marvin’s AI-powered analysis. We’re talking about a whole new level of control and efficiency when it comes to analyzing your research data. What are these cool things I’m talking about?

Clickable Citations

You know how you get those handy AI-generated summaries of your interviews and calls in Marvin? Well, they just got even better. Now, all the citations are clickable. See a summary point that piques your interest? Click! You’re right there, hearing or reading exactly what the participant said.

Summaries Served in Q&A style

Marvin can now structure summaries in Q&A format. Marvin can directly answer the questions from your latest discussion guide by default. You can choose one from the existing guides as well. This way, you get a quick, focused overview of how participants responded to your most important questions. Talk about the perfect way to learn the core findings of an interview!

Analyze Deeper with AI

Marvin now offers powerful new ways to filter your research data so you can quickly find what you need — introducing “My Topics”!

Marvin now comes pre-loaded with handy topics like “Pain Points & Concerns” or “Key Takeaways,” letting you instantly jump to those key moments. Think of them as smart filters that automatically highlight the most important parts across all files in a project. You can also create your own custom “Topics” tailored to your specific research needs. And you can reuse them to surface insights you care about in every call, making analysis faster and much more efficient.

For instance, say you’re a product manager trying to prioritize your next sprint. Instead of listening to hours of calls, you can simply filter by your custom “Feature Requests” topic in Marvin. You can instantly see every instance where your users have mentioned the new features they’d love to see. Similarly, a designer can create a custom topic for “UI/UX Issues” to quickly identify the areas where users are facing the most problems.

And that’s not all! Marvin’s AI goes even further by suggesting new “Topics” based on your existing labels. If a particular label appears frequently or in significant contexts, Marvin also suggests it as a new topic for focused analysis, providing a quick summary of all the related discussions.

AI Interview Feedback

Get real-time coaching on your research interview technique. Marvin’s AI can now analyze your interview transcripts and give you personalized tips on how to improve your interviewing skills.

The AI can also point out leading questions or interruptions from the interviewer. You can find the feedback under “My Topics.” Both new and seasoned researchers can go deeper into every conversation with Ask AI.

That’s it for our January update! Try them out today, and let us know what you think!
